Tutor Terms

The agreement between you and YOLO TECH Ltd for tutoring through Learning with LiANN.

Draft template. Final wording to be confirmed by YOLO TECH Ltd and its legal adviser before launch. The intermediary / independent-contractor framing (§3), the fee terms (§6) and the non-circumvention period (§7) especially warrant legal review, given children's safeguarding is involved.
Key commercial terms
  1. Pricing — LWL sets a minimum ("floor") price; you may charge that or more (§6).
  2. Non-circumvention — 12 months after you stop using the Service (§7).
  3. Commission — lower for your own students, higher for students we introduce to you; current rates are shown in the Service. §7 exempts students you already taught before joining or find independently of us.

1. Welcome & what this covers

These terms are an agreement between you and YOLO TECH Ltd ("Learning with LiANN", "we", "us") for the Learning with LiANN platform ("the Service"). The Service gives you software tools to teach and track your students, and it connects you with students and families and helps you arrange, run and get paid for lessons. By tapping Agree & continue you accept these terms. If you do not agree, you will not be able to use the Service.

2. Who can use it

The Service is for adults (18+) who teach or support students. You confirm you're legally entitled to work as a tutor and to work with the students in your classes.

3. Our relationship — you are independent

You are a self-employed independent professional, not our employee, worker, agent or partner. We are an intermediary: we introduce you to students and provide the platform and payment tools — we do not ourselves deliver the tutoring. Nothing here creates an employment, agency or partnership relationship. You're responsible for your own taxes, National Insurance and any insurance you need, and you decide whether to accept a booking.

4. Your qualifications & background checks

You confirm you hold the language and music teaching qualifications, competencies and professional memberships you present to us or to students, and that you'll provide evidence on request. Where you teach or support children or vulnerable adults, you confirm you hold — or will obtain before teaching them — a current Enhanced DBS check including a Children's Barred List check (or the equivalent required where you live and teach), that you'll keep it up to date, and that you'll meet all safeguarding obligations that apply. You may not teach children through the Service until we have verified your clearance. Please tell us promptly if your status changes.

5. How lessons are arranged & run

We help families and tutors find each other and book lessons through the Service, and we create the calendar events and video links. The teaching itself — its quality, content and delivery — is your responsibility. You'll be prompt, teach safely and professionally, and follow our reasonable community and safeguarding rules.

6. Fees & payments

Learning with LiANN sets a minimum ("floor") price for lessons; you may charge that or more. Families pay for lessons through the Service. For each lesson we deduct a service fee (our commission) and pass the balance to you. Our commission is lower for students you bring yourself and higher for students we introduce to you; current rates are shown in the Service and may change on reasonable notice. You authorise us to collect payment from families and to apply our cancellation and refund policy.

7. Working through Learning with LiANN (non-circumvention)

Where you are introduced to, or first teach, a student through the Service, you agree to arrange, run and be paid for lessons with that student through the Service — and not to take that relationship off-platform to avoid our fees — while you use the Service and for 12 months afterwards. This protects the introductions and platform we provide. It does not restrict students you already taught before joining, or students you find entirely independently of us.

8. Your account

You sign in with Google. Keep your login safe and don't share it. You're responsible for activity on your account.

9. Your students' information

You'll see each student's saved words, mastery levels and curriculum progress so you can guide their learning. Song lyrics stay on each student's own device and are never shared with you. Use student information only for teaching, keep it confidential, and follow any safeguarding rules that apply — especially where a student is a minor.

10. Using the Service fairly

Use the Service for legitimate teaching. Please don't misuse it, try to break it, or use it to break the law or infringe anyone's copyright.

11. Content & copyright

Songs and their lyrics belong to their respective owners. Make sure you and your students have the right to use any material you work with.

12. Privacy & data protection

We handle personal data in line with our Privacy Notice. Where you handle students' personal information you act as an independent controller and must do so lawfully (including UK GDPR) and responsibly.

13. Liability

We provide the platform "as is" and don't guarantee any particular number of students or income. So far as the law allows, we're not liable for the conduct of tutors or families, or for the lessons themselves — you're responsible for your own teaching. Nothing limits any liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or safeguarding duties).

14. Suspension, changes & ending

We may update these terms or the Service; we'll ask you to agree again if the changes are important. We may suspend or remove your access if you breach these terms or if safeguarding requires it (for example, if your DBS lapses). You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time; the non-circumvention term in section 7 continues for its stated period.
